Curated and hosted by DC Metro Theater Arts’ reviewer and writer Don Michael Mendoza and Regie Cabico, La-Ti-Do made its debut to a full house on January 23, 2012 at The Black Fox Lounge in Dupont Circle. Since then, it has become Washington, DC’s premiere musical theatre cabaret and spoken word series to serve the DC artistic community on a weekly basis. La-Ti-Do is driven by the support of venue co-owner Russwin Francisco and resident pianist Jonathan Tuzman. Past musical performers include Helen Hayes Award nominees and recipients: Vishal Vaidya, Katie McManus, Chris Sizemore, Will Gartshore, Joshua Morgan and international spoken word artists: Gail Danley, Sonya Renee Taylor, Sophia Walker, Chris August, and Vijai Nathan.
About Author Joel Markowitz
Joel Markowitz is the Publisher and Editor of DCMetroTheaterArts. Joel is a regular guest on 'The Lunch and Judy Show' radio program starring Judy Stadt in NYC. Joel founded The Ushers Theatre Going Group in the DC area in 1990, which has now merged with Broadway Bound Meetup. He wrote a column for 5 years called ‘Theatre Schmooze’ and recorded podcast interviews for DC Theatre Scene, and was the Editor at MD Theatre Guide before coming to DCMetroTheaterArts. His work can also be seen and heard in "Columns" and "Podcast" on BroadwayStars. Joel also wrote a monthly preview of what was about to open in DC area theatres for BroadwayWorld. He is an avid film and Buffalo Sabres fan and is an advocate for children's theatre.
